Here are a couple of pictures that I took this past week while visiting my parents. The first one is of a baby cardinal. The second is one of the inhabitants of my parents pond.

We stayed in a wonderful little bed & breakfast called The Victoriana Inn. Took a lovely cruise on the skipjack H.M. Krentz, had some wonderful food (Bistro St. Michaels and the Town Dock were amazing…), and got to check out Mary & Kevin’s excellent shop, Creative Xpressions.

CAMARILLO, CA – We had a chance to visit the classroom of my 2nd cousin Kathy this afternoon. The students had to create these imaginary worlds using common household items. All the kids were given the same things to work with. They also had to write a short paragraph describing what they’d created.

Not so sunny California: Reagan Presidential Library

I had a last minute opportunity to visit some family in California. (Alas, it’s “not so sunny California”… temperatures are in the high 50’s). We stopped by the Reagan Presidential Library on the way home from the airport:

The big showpiece of the place is one of the retired Air Force One’s. They’ve done a brilliant job of restoring it.

I’m not sure how I feel about “The Great Communicator” and the legacy he left behind. I remember not liking him when he was in office, and I remember the 80’s as being a time of real tension with regards to world affairs. Nuclear oblivion seemed like a real possibility. I wonder what he’d think of the “compassionate conservatism” of the current administration.

Virginia Bugs

While visiting my parents this past week I took a couple of pictures that I’m quite proud of. They were taken with my dad’s new Nikon Coolpix 8800.
